Hello and congratulations on making it to the second milestone. We do have a Facebook group If you would like to join, just make sure to answer all membership questions and agree to group rules. Don't forget the golden hour sessions that you must attend. The requirement is two sessions, but you can definitely do more.

You are now cleared to sign up for your Medical, Trauma, and Psychomotor/BLS Skills Testing Day.  Remember you must take the 4 hour Medical Prep session and the 4 hour Trauma Prep sessions first. These are virtual sessions that you do not come to an office for and are open for everyone. You will receive a separate email with your access code to sign up. You will sign up on the student website: student.rchealthservices.com. The password is EMT123$. To sign up for the virtual prep days, you will see that as a separate "location" on the skills page of the student website labeled “virtual.”

It is mandatory that students complete the online HeartCode course virtually prior to attending your scheduled psychomotor testing day at an RC Health Services Training Center. The BLS skills session will be completed by one of the Franktown instructors.

To register for your BLS course, follow these steps:

  1. Register for BLS HeartCode course: Send an email to Jacob Brown at jacob.b@rchealthservices.com requesting enrollment in the BLS HeartCode course.

  2. Complete the online HeartCode course prior to your in person skills days.

  3. Send a copy of the HeartCode certificate to Jacob: A BLS Provider card will not be issued unless we have a record of completing the HeartCode course. Send a pdf copy to jacob.b@rchealthservices.com

  4. Complete skills sign off during your in person skills days: At the direction of your instructor in Franktown, you will perform an in person BLS skills assessment during one of your skills days.

  • Check your email for receipt of your BLS Provider card: 2-5 days after your skills days, you will receive an email containing your BLS Provider card.

As a Colorado student, you are eligible to attend skills days in Franktown with the Franktown Fire Protection District. Do not call or contact Franktown FPD directly. This is grounds for disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the course. All communication regarding skills days in Franktown is through RC Health Services.

To register for skills days in Franktown, follow one of these steps:

  1. Email Jacob Brown at jacob.b@rchealthservices.com requesting skills days at Franktown.

  2. Call RC Health Services administration and request skills days at Franktown: 281-724-4896.

You may need to apply for an extension to finish the course. If you are attempting to sign up for skills that are within 30 days of your end date, you will not be able to do so.

In order to qualify for an extension you must meet the following criteria:

  • Paid in full

  • Complete lectures and quizzes Ch. 1-24

  • Completed your medical exam

If you had a date in mind that you did not see popping up for you in the student portal, this could be because the course is full or the course is within 30 days of your course end date. You may need to apply for an extension if you have not done this at all during this enrollment period. To apply for an extension you will go to the student website support area and click on "I need an Extension" and fill in the information. An instructor will review and then send a payment link if approved. A 90 day extension is $200. Payment must be made by the end of the day on your course end date. You will only be allowed one 90 day extension.

Make sure you are referencing the EMT Checklist that you received in orientation to make sure you are completing all program requirements. Each program will have it's own checklist.

A few reminders:

You need to submit your Health History, which includes your Physical Exam and Immunization records as early as possible. This is a common cause for a student to not finish their program in time. Upload these documents in PDF format to the support portal via "I want to turn in a document." Make sure to choose the correct department. Label the submission properly with last name, first name, document name. Do not send the documents via the student portal as your documents could be lost.

Departments:

EMT Nationwide - All students not in the GA or LA program

EMT Georgia - Georgia students

EMT Louisiana - Louisiana Students

EMT Amazon - Amazon students

As a reminder, uniforms are now required for all skills days. Information for the uniform requirements can be found in the Student Handbook and the Clinical Guidelines manual. The uniform consists of:

Polo Shirt - Navy blue

Pants - Black or Navy blue (cargo pants or “work” pants)

Boots – Black, closed toe, non-slip (they do not have to be steel toe).

Belt – Black, leather or woven

Equipment – BP Cuff, stethoscope, watch (with second hand, or stopwatch feature), pen light, trauma shears, notepad. It is recommended that you bring a laptop, if available. You will be inputting PCRs into fisdap throughout skills days, and a laptop makes this much easier.

Now would be a good time to request your ID for your clinicals. To do this, please send in a professional headshot selfie, taken against a light colored wall. Professional means no duck faces or hand gestures.

Send that picture via the support portal and choose I want to submit for my clinical ID Badge, and include the following information:

                  Name

                  Mailing Address

                  Your course ID

                 Your course end date

Your level of training – EMT

Do this today! You have to have your badge in order to attend clinicals.

Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.

Good luck with the rest of your course!
