I need CPR: BLS or Heartsaver?
Your employer or school has tasked you with obtaining your CPR certification, but maybe they weren't very clear which CPR class you actually need. This quick article will help you decide which class is right for you.
The first and most important piece of information we need to help you is this: are you doing anything remotely close to healthcare? Maybe you're a personal trainer, but you'll be doing cardiac rehab in a hospital setting. Maybe you're a daycare worker, but are interested in a job at a hospital or clinic. If there is anything healthcare in what you're going to be doing, you need BLS.
If you are taking this class for knowledge purposes only and will not be in a healthcare setting, you need Heartsaver.
The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us! We are happy to help.
